Our story began...
in the Gloucestershire greenhouse of our founder, Catherine Kidston Padgham MBE, with her ever expanding collection of scented geraniums.
she was drawn to the extraordinary breadth of fragrances in their leaves, the beauty of the plants and their healing properties.
A chance meeting...
with old friends and founders of skincare company Heathcote and Ivory led to the conception of C.Atherley - a brand specialising in natural body care with products made only from distinctive geranium fragrances.
Capture the magic...
called C.Atherley, which once belonged to Catherine's maternal grandmother and chosen to celebrate the women in her family with a strong history of gardening, the brand set out to capture the magic of the geraniums in her greenhouse.
The first geranium...
to be chosen from the greenhouse was the Radens variety, with its rare clarifying and uplifting fragrance. Plants were cultivated ready for development over the winter.
Off to Somerset...
where the scent was closely recreated by our master perfumer. He carefully hand blended a complex mix of 100% pure essential oils to create the Geranium No.1 fragrance. We are proud that our products contain a high level of natural ingredients.
It’s all in the detail...
great care was taken when designing the packaging. Botanical illustrations were hand drawn in our studio directly from the plants so that each box delicately represents the fragrance within.
Responsibly made...
we work with natural, certified vegan ingredients that are fully traceable. Our packaging is sustainable and is primarily glass, recycled plastic or aluminium that can be reused, refilled or recycled.
From greenhouse to bottle...
